A combat decorated former Marine Corps officer, Zach served two tours in Iraq and on other assignments throughout Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia in the infantry and special operations. In 2009 he returned to Fallujah, where he fought in 2004, to make a film documenting the war in the Al Anbar province and to confront the decisions he made in combat to protect his Marines and innocent Iraqi civilians. Dr. Ann B. Beeder is Associate Professor of Clinical Public Health and Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. She serves as Chief of the Division of Community and Public Health Programs, and she is the Medical Director of The Midtown Center for Treatment and Research as well as the Vincent P. Dole Treatment and Research Institute.
Dr. Beeder’s research interests include translational medicine in viral hepatitis,
Gerard Ilaria has dedicated his 30-year career to the provision of mental health and health care services to stigmatized and underserved populations. Gerard has practiced as a clinician as well as serving in administrative-leadership capacities and is currently the Division Administrator for Public Health Programs in the Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in NYC.
Previously, he was a Director at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, running the Center for Special Studies Adult AIDS Program.
Evelyn Polcari joined the Headstrong Project in early 2012 as the Director of Development to spearhead fundraising, event planning, corporate sponsorship and administrative management. Evelyn began her career on Wall Street thirty years ago. She was one of the first women and Hispanics to become a member of the New York Stock Exchange. During this period, she worked at Goldman Sachs, Donaldson Lufkin, Oppenheimer and Co., and Blumenthal Securities. Upon leaving Wall Street, she turned to philanthropic and service work.
Dustin Shryock joins The Headstrong Project as Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships. Dustin has worked in the public, private, tech, and non-profit sectors. He recently earned his Master of Public Administration, with a focus on non-profit management, from The Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University.
A veteran himself, Dustin’s service in the United States Army included two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
Kevin Buffalino joined the Headstrong Project as the Director of Marketing & Events in January 2017 in conjunction with the organization’s merger with the Three Wise Men Veterans Foundation, where he previously served in the same capacity. He could not be more excited to continue working day in and day out for the benefit of our nation’s veterans.
Prior to joining the non-profit sector, Kevin worked in endurance sports as an Event Manager at Competitor Group,
Al Rabil is the Managing Partner and CEO of Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors’ real estate private equity business, where he oversees the origination, execution and management of private investments in specialized niche real estate sectors, principally off-campus student housing.
Al began his career in the Real Estate Finance Group of the Bankers Trust Company, where he was employed between 1988 and 1993. In 1994, he joined the Real Estate Banking Group of UBS,
Clayton R. Hagerman is Director of Client Development for Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors. Prior to joining Kayne Anderson, Mr. Hagerman served three years as a Navy Officer assigned to the U.S. Special Operations Command with duty stations in Tampa, Florida and the mountains of eastern Afghanistan.
Prior to his call to service, Clayton managed a small distressed real estate venture, spearheaded the mergers & acquisitions program for an IT/telecommunications consolidation and directed deal origination for his family’s investment office.
Darlan Monterisi serves as senior vice president of Corporate Communications at CA Technologies. In the role, she is responsible for overseeing the company’s global corporate communications function, including regional Corporate Communications, Government Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility and Internal Communications, and stewards a highly-integrated approach to delivering the company’s corporate and product messages to key audiences.
Darlan joined CA from Porter Novelli, where she served as Partner and Managing Director, responsible for the Hewlett-Packard account.
David Petrucco is a Co-Founder of Backcast Partners, a financial advisory, consulting and investment business located in Millburn NJ, and was formerly a Partner at Kayne Anderson, a Managing Director at Blackstone, and also worked at RBS Securities and UBS Securities.
David is highly involved in other military associated charities, including the Special Operations Fund in Washington D.C. and is one of the founding board members of the Headstrong Project. He is married to his wife,
Kenny Polcari is a member of the New York Stock Exchange, and a Director at O’Neil Securities, Inc., the broker/dealer division of William O’Neil & Company. For the past 30 years, he has represented the interests of global institutional asset managers that need to access the world’s equity markets. In addition Kenny serves as a Board Advisor and Markets Expert for The Integral Board Group – a high impact, fully engaged board service provider. Previously,
Paul Casey is a Managing Director and the Chief Operating Officer of Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management, a division of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management comprised of 400 private wealth advisors who collectively manage over $250 billion in Ultra High Net Worth private client assets. He is responsible for business strategy, business management and client development efforts.
Paul began his career at Morgan Stanley in 2002 as an analyst in Investment Management. In 2004,
Peter Westmeyer is President and Managing Principal of MBRE Healthcare. He founded the group and is responsible for investment and asset management activity for the Chicago-based firm including sourcing, analyzing and financing healthcare real estate investments. Mr. Westmeyer serves as the fund manager for the GP healthcare funds the firm manages.
Prior to joining MBRE, Peter worked as an Associate for the Corporate Investment Group within the Investment Banking Division of Bank of America.
Pete Petronzio spent 28 years in the United States Marine Corps, retiring at the rank of Colonel after a career in both conventional and special operations units. A combat veteran of Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations, Pete commanded diverse, global organizations with thousands of Marines. Known for his ability to build relationships and trust in new and complex organizations and environments. His final position in the military was as the Commander of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).
Nathan Fletcher is a Marine Corps combat veteran, former member of the California State Assembly and current Professor of Practice in Political Science at the University of California.
As an elected member of the California State Assembly Fletcher served as Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Jobs in the New Economy and is the author of the landmark public safety legislation “Chelsea’s Law”. During his time in the Legislature, Fletcher worked closely with Governors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jerry Brown and was consistently rated one of the most effective lawmakers in California.
