Joe Quinn, Executive Director

Joe Quinn is the Executive Director of the Headstrong Project. Previously, he was the Director of Leadership Development for Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB). Before Team RWB, he was an Instructor in the Department of Social Sciences at the United States Military Academy at West Point and an Associate at the Combating Terrorism Center (CTC).  Joe also worked in Afghanistan as a Counterinsurgency Advisor for General David Petraeus’ Counterinsurgency Advisory and Assistance Team (CAAT).

Zach Iscol

Zach Iscol, Chairman and Co-Founder

A combat decorated former Marine Corps officer, Zach served two tours in Iraq and on other assignments throughout Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia in the infantry and special operations. In 2009 he returned to Fallujah, where he fought in 2004, to make a film documenting the war in the Al Anbar province and to confront the decisions he made in combat to protect his Marines and innocent Iraqi civilians. Ann Beeder, M.D., Medical Director and Co-Founder

Dr. Ann B. Beeder is Associate Professor of Clinical Public Health and Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. She serves as Chief of the Division of Community and Public Health Programs, and she is the Medical Director of The Midtown Center for Treatment and Research as well as the Vincent P. Dole Treatment and Research Institute.

Gerard Ilaria

Gerard Ilaria, LCSW, Clinical Director and Co-Founder

Gerard Ilaria has dedicated his 30-year career to the provision of mental health and health care services to stigmatized and underserved populations. Gerard has practiced as a clinician as well as serving in administrative-leadership capacities and is currently the Division Administrator for Public Health Programs in the Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in NYC.

Previously, he was a Director at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, running the Center for Special Studies Adult AIDS Program.

Evelyn Polcari

Evelyn Polcari, Director of Development

Evelyn Polcari joined the Headstrong Project in early 2012 as the Director of Development to spearhead fundraising, event planning, corporate sponsorship and administrative management. Evelyn began her career on Wall Street thirty years ago. She was one of the first women and Hispanics to become a member of the New York Stock Exchange. During this period, she worked at Goldman Sachs, Donaldson Lufkin, Oppenheimer and Co., and Blumenthal Securities. Upon leaving Wall Street, she turned to philanthropic and service work.

Dustin Shryock, Director of Operations

Dustin Shryock joined Headstrong as Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships and was quickly promoted to Director of Operations. Dustin has worked in the public, private, tech, and non-profit sectors. A veteran himself, Dustin’s service in the United States Army included two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Dustin spent nearly three years conducting operations in and around Baghdad, Iraq.

Originally from California, he is a graduate of Pace University – where he was awarded the New York State Conspicuous Service Cross – and is a former White House Intern having worked on the Joining Forces team within the Office of The First Lady.

Miguel Ocegueda, Program Director

Miguel is currently the Program Director for the Headstrong Project. He has been actively involved with Headstrong since October 2016. Prior to joining Headstrong, Miguel worked for the Rutgers Office of Veteran and Military Programs and Services as well as various other healthcare sectors where he utilized clinical and research based expertise to advance vulnerable population initiatives.

Miguel served as a combat medic in the US Army’s 3rd Infantry Division including tours to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.

Peter Westmeyer

Peter Westmeyer is President and Managing Principal of MBRE Healthcare. He founded the group and is responsible for investment and asset management activity for the Chicago-based firm including sourcing, analyzing and financing healthcare real estate investments. Mr. Westmeyer serves as the fund manager for the GP healthcare funds the firm manages.

Prior to joining MBRE, Peter worked as an Associate for the Corporate Investment Group within the Investment Banking Division of Bank of America.

Pete Petronzio

Pete Petronzio spent 28 years in the United States Marine Corps, retiring at the rank of Colonel after a career in both conventional and special operations units. A combat veteran of Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations, Pete commanded diverse, global organizations with thousands of Marines. Known for his ability to build relationships and trust in new and complex organizations and environments. His final position in the military was as the Commander of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).

Hon. Nathan Fletcher

Nathan Fletcher is a Marine Corps combat veteran, former member of the California State Assembly and current Professor of Practice in Political Science at the University of California.

As an elected member of the California State Assembly Fletcher served as Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Jobs in the New Economy and is the author of the landmark public safety legislation “Chelsea’s Law”. During his time in the Legislature, Fletcher worked closely with Governors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jerry Brown and was consistently rated one of the most effective lawmakers in California.
