Headstrong, founded in 2012, provides confidential, cost-free, and frictionless mental health care treatment for military veterans and their families. In partnership with Weill Cornell Medical College, one of the Nation’s leading mental health care centers, Headstrong developed an effective, individually tailored and comprehensive treatment program for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and related military traumas. Headstrong currently serves the New York Metro area, San Diego and Riverside Counties, the Los Angeles Metro area, Houston, Chicago, the Washington, D.C. Metro area, Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs, Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, Ithaca, and Albany with plans to expand to Philadelphia, the Pacific Northwest, and Southern Virginia in the near future.

About this role

Based in New York City, the Creative Content Manager is responsible for creating original content by utilizing their film and photography skills, as well as managing, scaling, and innovating upon Headstrong’s various social media channels and marketing goals. This role is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and tactics to ensure social media and marketing objectives remain in line with Headstrong’s vision and voice. In addition, this position is responsible for promoting effective customer relationships, partnering with key individuals at all levels within the organization, gaining a full understanding of the clients (veterans, their families, clinicians, and corporate partners), and creating original content for public and private distribution. Some travel may be required as you grow into this role.

Principal duties and responsibilities

  • Implement Headstrong’s marketing strategy to include the realization of innovative video, overseeing various social media platforms, producing unique photography, and executing on email marketing initiatives
  • Create monthly Headstrong newsletter informing donors and partners on updates within the organization
  • Create one voice for all social platforms and use analytics to track growth and reach on all fronts
  • Develop and assist with generating national marketing materials on Canva, InDesign, Adobe, and more.
  • Develop and implement strategic marketing materials and public relations outreach plans that will successfully grow and impact new markets for Headstrong’s ambassador program
  • Develop and implement marketing tools and techniques to support fundraising efforts (ex. Omaze & Charity Buzz)
  • Update and develop Headstrong’s collateral and marketing material including newsletters, catalogs, brochures, biographies, advertisements and website

Skills

  • Photography, video and design skills. Demonstrated ability to create original content (photo and video), pick up new technologies quickly, and highly familiar with the unique branding opportunities that exist within Instagram and Facebook
  • Success minded individual with the ability to relate to people
  • Ability to deliver innovative results, execute independently with minimal direction, and create original video content
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to produce and edit videos and photos to meet the requirements of posting on various social media platforms

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent working experience
  • Past experience producing content for the web specifically, as well as channel-specific knowledge (blog, SlideShare, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
  • Past experience building audiences/readership either online/offline
  • Basic WordPress or similar CMS experience (or a willingness to learn)
  • A dual-minded approach: You’re highly creative and an excellent writer but can also be process-driven, think scale, and rely on data to make decisions
  • Submission of electronic media portfolio will be required
  • Understanding of the  military veteran community preferred
