A combat decorated former Marine Corps officer, Zach served two tours in Iraq and on other assignments throughout Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia in the infantry and special operations. In 2009 he returned to Fallujah, where he fought in 2004, to make a film documenting the war in the Al Anbar province and to confront the decisions he made in combat to protect his Marines and innocent Iraqi civilians. The film, The Western Front, was screened as a work-in-progress at the Tribeca Film Festival and released in 2014.
Zach is the founder and CEO of Hire Purpose, a technology start-up that provides personalized career guidance, job market analysis, industry networking, and job matching to veterans, military service members and their spouses.
Zach is also the executive director of Headstrong Project, a non-profit partnered with Weill Cornell Medical Center to fund and develop comprehensive mental healthcare programs to treat Iraq and Afghanistan veterans free of cost, stigma, and bureaucracy. He founded Headstrong Project with the belief that if fellow veterans have the courage to get help, and they get the right help, they can return to leading meaningful and impactful lives.
Zach graduated from Cornell University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Government.
