Kenny is Managing Partner of Kace Capital Advisors , Chief Market Strategist at SlateStone Wealth, and a Managing Director at Campfire Capital a boutique investment bank. He started his career on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) as an institutional broker back in the early eighties when the march of electronic trading was already taking its first steps, and the great bull was first learning to run.
His 38 years of experience has taken him from the birth of the greatest bull market, to the crash of ’87, the roaring ’90’s, the .com implosion, decimalization, 9/11, Regulation NMS, the merger between the NYSE / ARCA, then Euronext, then ICE, automation, HFT, and fragmentation.
As a corporate entrepreneur, he has been building high-tech, high-touch, customer-centric financial firms within the global enterprise for over thirty years serving the interests of global institutional clients that needed to access the US capital markets. His experience in serving mutual fund managers, hedge fund managers, pension systems and large family offices all contribute to his keen insight into the market and keen insight into the institutional investor.
As a voice on the markets, he started working with the news media after 9/11, at the request of the NYSE, and became a regular contributor during the financial crisis, developing a reputation for being a champion for the investing public, and an advocate for Main Street on Wall Street.
Most recently – he led O’Neil Securities (William O’Neil & Co), through a turnaround and legacy modernization. The firm had been struggling to adapt its core in the face of regulatory and technological evolution, so Kenny helped define the route to resilience by capitalizing on a hybrid market model.
Earlier in his career, he built the U.S. equities business at the largest electronic inter-dealer broker, ICAP, from the ground up, and was among the first traders to go direct to institutional money managers, executing on the opportunities market evolution created, and bringing greater transparency and accessibility to the customer.
Before ICAP, Kenny ran the Cash Equities division at Salomon Brothers, during the nineties bull market, and was a part of the innovation team that launched the first electronic order delivery system in the industry.
Kenny serves on the Board of Directors of the National Organization of Investment Professionals (NOIP), and the Headstrong Project, a nonprofit providing free, world-class treatment to veterans coping with the psychological wounds of war. He has a BSBA in Finance from the Boston University School of Management and has his series 7, 24, 27, 63 and 65 licenses. Kenny met his wife on the trading floor in 1985, when she became the first Latina member of the NYSE. They have two daughters.
